Apparently there’s no slowing the Queen Bee down. Despite being pregnant, Beyonce is determined not to rest on her laurels and has been keeping busy with a multitude of new projects, including a video for ‘Party’ featuring J.Cole. It’s set to premiere later this week, but until then, all we have is a quick preview to get us in the colorful and happy mood.
I mentioned my excitement over the upcoming Muppet movie in this post, but now I’m about to explode with joy because the soundtrack list was recently released and it looks amazing. Not only is a new version of the Rainbow Connection being re-released, but Bret McKenzie from Flight of the Conchords (such an underrated series) has contributed four new songs. Meanwhile Feist and Joanna Newsom have added vocals to “The Muppet Show Theme” and “Life’s a Happy Song”. This is set to be a true Muppet adventure and I can’t wait to join it on 23 November 2011.

As a rule, I tend to enjoy feel good music and music videos, and this one is no exception. The new music video from Mayer Hawthorne is a delightful dichotomy between a relaxed, upbeat song about a break-up, and a vicious shoot-out between the two protagonists. A great video for anyone in the midst of a break-up, or needing a reminder why being single isn’t so bad.
Although this song has been out for over a year, I just can’t seem to get enough of it! Janelle Monae’s Tightrope is a catchy, feel-good song with one of the best videos I’ve seen in a long time. Relying less on special effects and more on an interesting storyline and incredible dancing, this video is bound to brighten your Monday!
Amazing news for anyone whose childhood was spent lip sync-ing to such epic numbers as “Say My Name” and “Survivor… I mean Beyonce and Jay-Z are having a baby! How amazing is that?
Sasha Fierce’s real-life alter ego made her pregnancy debut at the 2011 VMAs, and it was (in my opinion) the most exciting moment of the entire show.
I have one word to describe this baby: fierce. It’s truly going to be the epitome of cool. Who else feels a sudden nostalgia to throw her hands up “Independent Woman” style in honor of the great B, because if anyone can balance a successful career and loving home, it’s Beyonce.
